Your first step is to apply for admission to the Graduate
School. The Online
Application Form consists of general information
and a brief summary of qualifications. An admission
fee is required. The Graduate School does not distribute
or accept paper applications.
The Department of Religious Studies strongly recommends that
you submit the Graduate School application (and pay the fee) by
December 1. You can then get your transcripts,
letters of recommendations, statement of purpose, and other supporting
materials to us in the weeks that follow.
To save time, have the following information ready when you sit
down to complete the online application:
- Name of the field of
specialization for which you are applying.
- Names and addresses of the individuals who are writing your
letters of recommendation
- Dates attended (month/year) and GPAs for all academic institutions
you've attended (whether or not you graduated)
- Your GRE scores (you'll have ETS send an official score report
as well)
- Fellowships, scholarships, and academic honors received
- Relevant experience, skills, work, publications, and travel
- Foreign languages and fluency
- Order of preference for kinds of financial assistance you
wish to be considered for (research assistantship, teaching
assistantship, interdisciplinary fellowship)
- Explanation of any academic discipline or criminal charges
against you
