Professional Development Group
The Professional Development Group aims to aid current graduate students towards their career goals by providing opportunities and information not typically covered in academic curricula. We host workshops, panels, and other events that impart practical skills and knowledge relevant to various stages of academic and career development. Because the overarching category of “professional development” is so broad, events and services provided by the group can be put into the following categories:
- finance management and funding opportunities
- interviewing and job searching
- career path information (academic and alternative)
- leadership and mentoring training
- time-management skills
- conference-presentation preparation
- networking
By focusing on these broad categories in turn, we hope to steadily equip students with tools for long-term career success throughout their time in UNC’s Religious Studies program.
