Professional Biography
Brian Coussens is an archaeologist specializing in the archaeology of the Second Temple Period and Israel/Palestine. His research currently focuses on architecture and its role in performing discourse and in shaping memory, particularly as seen through the lens of Herodian architecture. Since 2011, he has been a member of the Huqoq Excavation Project team, serving in that time in various roles, including Assistant Area Supervisor, Field Registrar, and Educational Coordinator. He is currently (2017-2018) serving his second term as Vice-President of the Graduate and Professional Student Federation, UNC’s graduate student governing body.
